TheFutureisPlasticFree is a journey. Come, join us!
It all started in the Spring of 2019, after watching a series of Documentaries and being overwhelmed with the ever-increasing News coverage about the plight of the planet and impending environmental disaster we are all facing.
What really stood out and had quite a profound effect was the problem of Single-use and short-life Plastics. It had never really hit home until that moment just how irresponsible we have all been and continue to be as consumers.
So that was it, right there and then we went straight to it, found a Web address and The FutureisPlasticFree.com was born.
At first, we weren’t entirely sure exactly what we would do but knew we had to do something and start somewhere. It is this precise mentality that should be the beginning of everyone’s Plastic Free journey. If everyone does just a little, then collectively we can achieve a lot.
“Do something, start somewhere”
At the same time as brainstorming the direction and mission in which we would like to take TheFutureisPlasticFree, we realised that the best place to start would be at home. How easily could we reduce our own reliance on plastic around the house? At first, it was daunting to say the least! Plastic is everywhere. However, by keeping things simple initially and not overwhelming yourself by attempting to switch out every piece of plastic in the house, it really is easier than what you might think. It’s all about addressing those items that you simply buy day to day out of habit. Some very simple changes to your every-day buying habits will soon have you considerably reducing plastic in your homes. “Habit” really is the keyword here!
“Motivation is what gets you started, habit is what keeps you going” and “once good habits are established, they are just as hard to break as bad ones”
What greater motivation does any of us need than the act of helping to save this beautiful planet we call home. There is no Planet B, we only get one chance at this. Almost everything we do each day, every day is habit. Once we kick out the old and have new good habits established in our day to day lives it will be much easier than what you ever thought possible to continue on your journey towards a Plastic Free Future.
We are all consumers, so we all have a responsibility to make good, conscientious purchasing decisions. If we the consumer lead the way and refuse to buy products made from or packaged in unnecessary plastic, then industry will have to wake up and supply us with what we demand.
It’s this reason that we have decided to take on and address an issue with one of the retail industries biggest players. As an Amazon affiliate, we have the benefit of being able to provide you all with the largest selection of Sustainable, Plastic Free, Plastic Reducing and Zero Waste products available anywhere. However, we are also very well aware of Amazons tendency to package products carelessly. Therefore with your support it is our mission to be in a position to demonstrate to Amazon just how strong the desire and appetite is for Plastic Free, Plastic Reducing and Zero Waste, With your support and conscientious purchasing we can have some real influence and encourage the likes of Amazon to do much better in their own efforts to reduce their impact on the environment.
Why not boycott Amazon as a statement?
Yes, this is an obvious alternative approach to the issue. However, we are all about positivity and we believe that by taking a more positive, proactive approach and building a relationship based on mutual respect, with good open dialogue, we may be able to achieve a lot more. If collectively we can demonstrate a real hunger and growing demand for all things Plastic-Free and for these products, in particular, to be packaged in an environmentally conscientious way, then hopefully we can all have some real influence within the retail sector and specifically Amazons efforts to improve its sometimes questionable packaging practices.
Our Mission
We believe that a Plastic-Free Future should be accessible and affordable to everyone on any budget. We strive to provide you with a one-stop-shop of information, education and access to Plastic Free alternatives for all your every-day items. And where we can’t go all out, 100% plastic-free we will do our very best to offer something that’s at the very least a Sustainable, Plastic Reducing, Zero Waste option.
